ദേശീയ തലത്തില്‍ തന്നെ പ്രമുഖരായ മാധ്യമപ്രവര്‍ത്തകരുടെ ഡല്‍ഹിയിലെ വീടുകളില്‍ ഇന്ന് രാവിലെ നടന്ന അനധികൃത പോലീസ് റെയ്ഡിനെയും ന്യൂസ് ക്ളിക്ക് എഡിറ്റര്‍ പ്രബിര്‍ പുര്‍കായസ്ഥ അടക്കമുള്ള മാധ്യമ പ്രവര്‍ത്തകരുടെ അറസ്റ്റിനെയും
കേരള പത്രപ്രവര്‍ത്തക യൂണിയന്‍ ( കെയുഡബ്ല്യുജെ ) ശക്തമായി അപലപിക്കുന്നതായി അറിയിച്ചു.
ഏത് കേസിനു വേണ്ടിയാണ് റെയ്ഡ് എന്നതു പോലും വെളിപ്പെടുത്താതെ നടത്തിയ റെയ്ഡില്‍ മാധ്യമപ്രവര്‍ത്തകരുടെ മൊബൈല്‍ ഫോണുകളും ലാപ്‌ടോപ്പും അടക്കമുള്ള ഇലക്ട്രോണിക്‌സ് ഉപകരണങ്ങള്‍ പൊലീസ് പിടിച്ചെടുത്തു. മാധ്യമപ്രവര്‍ത്തകരെ ഭീഷണിപ്പെടുത്തി വാര്‍ത്തയില്‍ നിന്ന് പിന്തിരിപ്പിക്കാനുള്ള ഭരണകൂടത്തിന്റെ ശ്രമമായി മാത്രമേ ഇതിനെ കാണാന്‍ കഴിയൂ എന്ന് ഭാരവാഹികള്‍ പറഞ്ഞു.
മാധ്യമ സ്വാതന്ത്ര്യത്തിനു മേലുള്ള കടന്നുകയറ്റവും ജനാധിപത്യ അവകാശ നിഷേധവുമാണ് ഈ നടപടി. ഈ ജനാധിപത്യ വിരുദ്ധ, നിയമവിരുദ്ധ നടപടികള്‍ക്ക് നിര്‍ദ്ദേശം നല്‍കിയവര്‍ക്ക് എതിരെ ശക്തമായ നിയമ നടപടികള്‍ സ്വീകരിക്കണമെന്ന് കേരള പത്രപ്രവര്‍ത്തക യൂണിയന്‍ സംസ്ഥാന പ്രസിഡന്റ് എം വി വിനീതയും ജനറല്‍ സെക്രട്ടറി ആര്‍. കിരണ്‍ ബാബുവും കേന്ദ്രസര്‍ക്കാരിനോട് ആവശ്യപ്പെട്ടു.
KUWJ condemns raids at journalists’ residences and arrest of senior journalists including NewsClick Editor Prabir Purkayastha
The Kerala Union of Working Journalists strongly condemns the illegal police raids conducted at the residences of prominent journalists at the national level on Tuesday morning. The arrest of senior journalists including NewsClick Editor Prabir Purkayastha is highly condemnable. During the raids that were held without even revealing the reasons for the same, the police seized mobile phones, laptops and other electronic equipment from the journalists. This can only be viewed as part of an attempt by the authorities to arm-twist and initimidate the journalists into refraining from pursuing news. This amounts to encroachment on the freedom of media and a blatant violation of democratic rights. The Union government should take stringent legal action against those who directed such an anti-democratic and illegal act, Kerala Union of Working Journalists state president M Vineetha and general secretary R Kiran Babu demanded.
